  • President Trump says he wants to strip funding from so-called "sanctuary cities," but what exactly do these cities do?

The map at 4:26 comes from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (https://www.ilrc.org/local-enforcement-map)

Cities and counties that limit their cooperation with federal immigration agents are sometimes called "sanctuaries," but the word doesn't actually have any legal meaning. However, because the constitution prohibits the federal government from making states enforce its laws, cities, counties, and other local jurisdictions have lots of freedom to ignore, or comply with, requests from federal agencies like ICE to detain undocumented immigrants for deportation.

It's a well known fact that Vox is left wing. Why do conservatives continue to watch their videos and complain when they they disagree with an obviously left wing media outlet?

shechshire ....What don't you understand?.... ALL immigrants are welcome to USA....but we don't allow in criminals and law-breakers. You will have to follow the legal process. No Republicans are anti-immigrant....they are against criminals and law-breakers....and traitors committing treason.Get your act together Democrats....you are embarrassing yourselves to the whole world.

My parents waited 8 years to get a green card and a few more years for official citizenship. It took us thousands to get this. Why cant things be fair? Why can't illegal immigrants just follow the law? Why do people who have disobeyed the law and cheated their way in be allowed special privileges? Does that mean that all of those years waiting to be a citizen were just wasted? I am truly appalled, disappointed, and shocked to see many people support those who have cheated their way in.

The point isn't about letting criminals run free, it's about getting immigrants , illegal or otherwise, to cooperate with police. It's basically the same thing as giving someone a reduced sentence for ratting out other criminals. It's less a matter of enforcing the law wholesale as it is enforcing the law effectively, I'd rather the police be able to catch more thieves and murderers than catch the same amount of Juans every month.

There’s literally no evidence, no study to support your claim. There is no evidence at all that sanctuary policies help cops catch more bad guys lol

Obviously, you are pretty stupid. Chicago isn't dangerous unless you go to one of the 5 or so community areas (out of 77) that have the VAST majority of the crime.

  • Anthony Starke

You do realize that many of the crimes these people commit never actually get processed right? Even if that is the "official" statistic there is way more crime brought in my illegal immigration than those numbers lead you to believe. And that's not even taking into account the technicality that EVERY undocumented person is in fact breaking the law. Which would push that statistic to 100% of them having criminal records.

one question.. where is the W in the "where" in your comment? actually, two questions... why are you a clearly uninformed conservative complaining about a left wing media site?

Honestly sounds like a left explanation of sanctuary cities. They forget to mention that being an illegal immigrant is ILLEGAL. Just become registered legal and pay your fair share.

+Slayer1111111111able victimless or not a law is being broken and many illegals work under the table not paying taxes. Those who are legal must foot in the bills for them.
