  • President Trump says he wants to strip funding from so-called "sanctuary cities," but what exactly do these cities do? Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjOThe map at 4:26 comes from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (https://www.ilrc.org/local-enforcemen...)Cities and counties that limit their cooperation with federal immigration agents are sometimes called "sanctuaries," but the word doesn't actually have any legal meaning. However, because the constitution prohibits the federal government from making states enforce its laws, cities, counties, and other local jurisdictions have lots of freedom to ignore, or comply with, requests from federal agencies like ICE to detain undocumented immigrants for deportation.Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines. @The Scribbler it better, 2016 was the highest spike in homicide seen in any usa city ever, not exactly a good benchmark. And when we talk about decrease in homicide rate chicago still trends behind other most other cities and the USA as a whole.

I like how people think Chicago is the only violent place in the US. It really isn't the only city with Violence, not to mention that LA back in the 90's was way violent than today's Chicago. LA was able to turn much of it around, I think Chicago too can do the same.

@HiByeHi ...yes I realize the cop simply meant that area. I get it and realize yes, not ALL of Chicago is like that. The point is simply that a good chunk of it is like that. Compared to many cities where very little/none is like that. I lived n worked in Chicagoland for 6-7 months. But let's be real guys, that whole area from Gary to Hammond to Harvey up through Cal City n Roseland up to South Side is all bad.

It's funny that washington DC is a sanctuary city but that's where all the federal immigration laws come from

  • Ball Python

I think DC and Hawaii are the most left leaning large areas in the states, outside of california, and the homeless population in DC is really bad too so you can roam pretty freely

That'll also be just about the worst place to "hide" for undocumented immigrants, given that so much of it is federal land.
