  • The U.S. embassy to Israel has moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Here's how this sacred city factors into a conflict 70 years old.

When President Trump's administration announced the move in 2017, it also officially recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital. And while Israeli leaders celebrated, Palestinians denounced the move.

That's because both Israelis and Palestinians consider Jerusalem as their rightful capital. Jerusalem is home to important holy sites for all the Abrahamic religions, and so it has become a critical bargaining chip in the ongoing discussion between the two sides.

Moving the embassy is controversial, breaking with decades of official US policy — and it comes at a particularly tumultuous time for Israel and the region. Read more on Vox.com: http://bit.ly/2k3pFIE

What a lot of people (most especially Americans) don't understand is that Palestinians are upset because Israel continues to destroy what little land STILL BELONGS to the Palestinians. Thats what the whole argument is about. If you feel that land stealing is justified thats your opinion but now you can understand why they would be upset. Yes there are radical extremists who make this a religious conflict but really its about people wrongfully being driven from their homes.

The fact that the Palestinians didn't agree to divide the land to two countries was already their problem. Us Israelis had no problem to share the land with them but it was them who started the attacks and made the occupied territory their own problem

What year did the "Palestinian" Arabs "own" or claim Palestine as their own? There has never been a "Palestinian" state, therefore the "Palestinian" Arabs have no rights of ownership to Palestine. By the way the only ethnic people that had and has a country in that region were the Jews, beginning in 1000 BCE.

Really good job in making a relatively detailed video that's still very neutral. It's still going to be controversial by nature, but unbiased coverage is what we need.

IT'S NOT EVEN ABOUT RELIGION, THEY'RE LITERALLY PRISONERS IN THEIR OWN LAND AFTER THEIR ANCESTORS WERE MASSACRED. Imagine if Native Americans were shoved into one corner, abused and killed whenever they protested, starved, and forced into poverty? STOP LYING. THE MEDIA WILL MAKE THE VICTIMS LOOK LIKE THE OPPRESSORS. READ ON THE ACTUAL HISTORY AND CURRENT SITUATION.

Why Palestinians claim Jerusalem? Because they have been living there for eons. Why Israelis claim Jerusalem? Because an ancient fairy tale book says a group of brown people who ethnically speaking has nothing to do with Israelis once lived there thousands of years ago. Also, the US says so.
